Alvic Group was one of the collaborators of the IV Cooperative Awards of Castilla-La Mancha, thus maintaining its commitment to the development of agri-food cooperativism. Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias Castilla-La Mancha presented the awards on May 22 at a gala held at the Albacete Conference Center and attended by Alvic. This year's event was attended by around 500 guests, including representatives of cooperatives, guests and authorities.
The president of Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias Castilla-La Mancha, Ángel Villafranca, stressed that it is now more important than ever that cooperatives continue to be competitive, bet on innovation and seek new markets that guarantee their growth.
The cooperatives that won the Cooperative Awards were, in the "Economic Sustainability" category, Manjavacas Soc. Coop. Mota del Cuervo (Cuenca); in "Social Sustainability", Coop. Almendras Elche de la Sierra (Albacete); in "Environmental Sustainability", the Unión Campesina Iniestense (Cuenca); and, finally, Mercajucar Soc. Cooperativa de Villalgordo del Júcar (Albacete) received the Rural Merit Award.
During the course of the gala, which took place after the General Assembly, the work of the municipalities of Letur (Albacete) and Mira (Cuenca) was also recognized, awarding them the special prize "Solidarity Values", for their struggle to rebuild these municipalities seriously affected by the DANA on October 29. The San Francisco de Asís Cooperative, in Talavera la Nueva (Toledo), a benchmark in the dairy-livestock sector in the area, won the "Cooperative Excellence Award".
The most emotional moment of the event came with the posthumous tribute to Darwin Cruz Palomares, first president of Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias Castilla-La Mancha, then known as UCAMAN.
