Efficiency and optimization of logistics and storage processes are fundamental to drive growth and efficiency in a constantly evolving business environment. Therefore, Alvic Group has made the strategic decision to acquire an automated warehouse, already installed at the central headquarters in Centelles (Barcelona), with the aim of improving its competitiveness and efficiency in the management of components and materials intended for manufacturing.
To carry out this initiative, the company has relied on the experience and innovative solutions of a global provider of automated intralogistics systems for sorting and storage, to solve the challenges related to space optimization and order preparation, allowing Alvic to improve its operations and achieve outstanding results.
In this way, a vertical automated solution for component and material picking management has been implemented, replacing conventional shelves, facilitating the storage of many picking references in a single location and reducing space occupancy. It is a highly efficient and automated system with a height of 7,650 mm, a depth of 2,312 mm, and a large storage area. Additionally, the system also features advanced functions such as automatic detection of maximum product height, weight control to prevent overloading, and personal protection at the working area, ensuring operator safety.
This intelligent warehouse also has LED position indicators, which facilitate order preparation by visually displaying relevant information clearly and concisely. This allows for the design of more flexible and efficient picking and storage processes, improving overall productivity.
Optimization and total control
The implementation of this automated warehouse provides a series of significant benefits for Alvic Group. Firstly, it achieves a considerable reduction in the space required for storage and picking, enabling better utilization of the facilities. Furthermore, concentrating the picking references in a single location improves operational efficiency and product traceability.
Another notable benefit is the improvement in ergonomics for workers. Task automation optimizes workflow and contributes to a safer and more comfortable working environment.
It is also important to highlight the increased control, protection, and custody of materials. By linking it to Alvic's SAP ERP system, precise tracking of each reference is guaranteed, from its entry into the warehouse to its release for production. This not only improves inventory management but also provides greater security and reliability throughout the logistics process.
In addition to operational and management benefits, the acquisition of an automated warehouse demonstrates Alvic Group's commitment to technological innovation and environmental respect. In this regard, water-soluble solvent paints are used in the equipment, which do not generate harmful waste for the environment.
Thus, the acquisition of an automated warehouse by Alvic represents a significant advancement in the automation of logistics and storage tasks. With this solution, Alvic achieves space optimization, improves efficiency, ensures product traceability, provides a safer and more comfortable working environment for its employees, and maintains its leadership in the sector by adopting cutting-edge technologies.
